Uninhabited,
except for an eco lodge at Cape Richards, the island abounds
in flora, fauna, crystal streams, palm-fringed beaches and
mangrove waterways. The Thorsborne Trail along the island's
eastern side is a world renowned four to five day hiking
track.
The
less energetic or those pressed for time can see the island
on a day cruise.
Launch
your own boat, or hire a dinghy, or take a fishing charter
to discover this renowned fishing and boating playground.
Discover the sheltered waters of the Hinchinbrook Channel
or venture seaward to nearby islands or to the Great Barrier
Reef. Take a cruise, or go snorkelling or scuba diving.
From
Cardwell, branch out on self-drive trips or coach tours to
Mission Beach, Tully Gorge, Wallaman Falls (Australia's highest
single drop waterfall) or the remote Blencoe Falls.
Also
within easy reach in the nearby region are adventure trips:
white water rafting, sea kayaking and skydiving to name a
few.
